2022 Dates: June 13-18

No longer accepting registrations.

BalletTexas A&M Collegiate Summer Dance Intensive is designed to provide serious dancers with the opportunity to prepare for dance at the collegiate and pre-professional level, as well as gain insight into campus life and the Dance Science Program at Texas A&M University. Participants must be ages 12-20 and have a minimum of four years of dance experience. Age is determined by January 1 of the year of the intensive. Students will be staying in university dormitories, walking our vast campus, and working closely with dance faculty. Each day will include various classes in Ballet, Modern, and Wellness (Yoga, Pilates, etc.) as well as Improvisation and Choreography as taught by TAMU dance faculty: Carisa Armstrong, Christine Bergeron, Diane Cahill-Bedford, Andrea Alvarez, and Alex Pooley-Detwiler, and other professional guests. For students looking to enter TAMU in Fall 2023 (Class of 2027) an audition will also be available during the intensive at no additional cost.  The audition application will be available as a part of the registration for the Summer Intensive. Additionally, the students will participate in evening activities to enhance their preparation for dancing in college and beyond as well as explore our campus.

We seek to improve the technique, performance quality, anatomical awareness, and strength of dancers who wish to pursue dance at the collegiate level and beyond. There will be an informal performance on the last day of the intensive to which parents are invited. No audition is required for attendance in the intensive, however, students must have a minimum of 4 years of dance training(more instructions in forms area below). Payment includes 6 days full of classes, a final performance*, housing, meals, a t-shirt, and a lanyard.  All fees will be due when registration ends (May 1st). The Collegiate Summer Dance Intensive (June 13-18, 2022) will be hosted in Texas A&M University Dance Program’s facilities in the Physical Education and Activity Programs building on the TAMU campus.

Facilities include:

  • Yoga studio with yoga wall

Individual Assessment Program

As part of the collegiate dance intensive, we will be offering the opportunity to receive an individualized assessment of your student’s technical ability. Through the course of the 7-day intensive, the student will be evaluated by the faculty in all technique classes and rehearsals to assess her/his strengths and areas for improvement with attention to strength, flexibility, musicality, and alignment. Students will be required to wear an assigned number during classes and rehearsals so faculty may clearly identify and assess them. After the completion of the intensive, the student’s written assessment will be mailed to their permanent address. The fee for this individualized assessment is $50.00. Register early as we only have 20 assessment spots available. Assessment fees are non-refundable.
