Beginning fall 2019 changes to the B.S. in Kinesiology: Dance Science track will enable students to focus the information in kinesiology and dance science towards three career options.  Within this updated curriculum students will have 18 elective hours to tailor their degree for teaching, preparation for medical, physical therapy or occupational therapy school or for a career as a professional dancer. For students interested in a K-12 certification can use the 18 elective hours for the required education courses.  For more information about the teaching certification option click here. Many of our students use this degree to attend physical therapy or medical school with the intention of specializing in dancers.  The 18 hours now embedded within this degree allows them to get the prerequisites required for admission into a professional school. If students want to use the dance science to enlongate their career as a professional dancer, they can use these 18 hours towards additional courses in dance technique, dance composition (choreography), improvisation, partnering and other dance focused courses.
