Andrea Alvarez, MFA
Instructional Assistant Professor
Andrea Alvarez holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Contemporary Dance from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology Dance Science track from Texas A&M University. She participated and assisted with dance research at both schools, and she is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) Student Committee.
Alvarez has performed throughout the US, Mexico, Cuba, and The Netherlands. She has had the honor to perform works by Jiří Kylián (excerpt from Sinfonietta, staged by Fiona Lummis), Hans van Manen (excerpts from Black Cake, staged by Mariette Redel), Mark Morris (Canonic 3/4 Studies, staged by Sam Black), Larry Keigwin (Triptych, staged by Jaclyn Walsh, and excerpt from Exit Like an Animal, staged by Brandon Cournay and Kile Hotchkiss), Ingeborg Heuser, Alicia Alonso, Maurice Casey, Karen Potter, Carisa Armstrong, Christine Bergeron, Kathleen Byrne, Kathy Dunn Hamrick, Jane Weiner, Allison Orr, Shannon Sterne, Sarah Morrison, etc.
Her choreography has been presented at Mather Dance Center (Case Western Reserve University), Texas A&M University, the American College Dance Festival, Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival, and the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance concert.
